John Fink is currently a media/sales/business/leadership consultant. He also does public speaking, seminars, and is soon to be the author of a compilation of a collection of his “Think About It” editorials, which aired for over 19 years in Hawaii on KFVE-TV and also aired (from 2000-2009) on KHNL-TV (NBC) in Hawaii.
In early 2019, John retired as Vice President/General Manager of KFVE- TV, Honolulu, HI., after a multi-station merger. He has been involved in Hawaii media for over four decades now, including 37 years in television locally. He was been at the helm of KFVE from 1996 – January, 2019, and he also ran KHNL- TV (NBC in Hawaii) along with KFVE- TV from 1996-2009. Prior to that, he was the general sales manager for the two stations for 10-years (1986-1996).
He began his media career with a short stint in public relations for a local pro soccer team (Team Hawaii in the North American Soccer League), and then spent four years at radio stations KIKI/KMAI as Sales Manager and Music Director. After a four-year sales stint at KGMB (CBS Hawaii) he moved over to KHNL in 1986. KHNL began its partnership with KFVE in 1993.
John is a graduate of Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT., where he received a bachelor’s degree in East Asian History. Alongside work, he is currently active on a dozen local non-profit boards and/or committees, including the St. Francis Healthcare System, Big Brothers/Big Sisters Hawaii Foundation, Aloha Stadium Authority, Aloha Festivals, the Hawaii State Junior Golf Assn., the Hawaii Bowl, Easterseals Hawaii golf tournament, the Diamond Head Classic, and the Hawaii Council on Economic Education.
John frequently emcees and speaks at functions and fundraisers for a variety of local businesses and charities throughout each year, and in his post-media retirement world, John presents personal life skill and business seminars, acts as a spokesperson for various businesses, and also does consulting work in various areas for companies around town.
